Hoi,
I have had troubles before with rental car companies various times in the past, and now again I have been ripped of by the car rental company GoldCar in 2019. This time GoldCar stole more than 140 euros from me, maybe not that a huge amount, but more than 550% of the original amount I booked the car for.

The scam started when I booked a GoldCar rental car on booking.com end of July 2019, with pickup and return at Malaga Airport (Spain). The rediculous cheap deal costed only 32.50 euro (DKK242.50) online. Me and my girlfriend had a great time with the car in Spain beginning of August, until we got back and discovered that only 60 euros of the deposit of more than 200 euros had been refunded on my creditcard. GoldCar stole my money just like that! Though at the same time I feel stupid as well: never trust a too-good-to-be-true deal! After several emails and many weeks of delayed responses from GoldCar and Booking, it finally appeared that GoldCar had taken more than 140 euro because:
1) GoldCar had added various additional charges on the original (Spanish) contract, which I had signed because the lovely GoldCar woman had made me believe these charges were only for deposits of damage and fuel
2) GoldCar gave us a penalty for refueling although I have proof that we had returned the car with exactly the same amount of fuel it had at pickup

# Issue 1 (mayor one)
The contract I was given at the pickup, was in Spanish (no English version available), so that I have to trust on what they tell me. When a form is in a foreign language, then you trust the company for informing you truthfully. The woman at the GoldCar desk informed me that the amount was more than the original booking, because of an amount reserved as a damage deposit, and some amount for the fuel deposit, which would all be returned to me afterwards. Of course I trusted what she told me. I was never informed about, and never agreed with any extras nor insurance or whatsoever, and it was not part of my booking neither. I had to sign a Spanish form that I cannot understand, and was never informed about any additional charges. I never agreed on any extras nor insurance. Yes, I have signed the document, because I was told a completely different story about the charges, which were supposed be refunded.

# Issue 2 (minor one)
GoldCar charges me because the tank was supposed to be completely full (8/8) at pickup. But it was not full, so I had the contract signed off by a GoldCar employee.

De oplossing

Ik heb Engelse teksten geschreven zodat ik het misschien bij internationale organisaties ook indienen kan, maar indien gewenst kan ik het in het Nederlands vertalen:

I feel I have been stolen from, and would like to have this money back, and hope you can assist me to achieve this. What I really want to achieve is that GoldCar and other malicious car rental companies are punished for their criminal activities. It cannot be that in the EU we allow companies to take advantage of customers like this. This really has to be stopped! I hope you can process my complaint and do something about this. Thank you very much for your help in advance.

    Ik zou graag zien dat mijn klacht in behandling wordt genomen, hoe kan ik ervoor zorgen dat ik mijn geld terug krijg en GoldCar niet langer kan doorgaan met deze illegale praktijken?

GoldCar laat niks van zich horen, dat wist ik al lang, waarom zouden ze reageren, klachten kun je beter negeren, vooral als je weet dat je zelf heel fout zit. Dit kan alleen opgelost worden door een aanpak op Europees nivo.
